The BCcampus OpenEd, funded by the Ministry of Advanced Education in British Columbia, is a searchable collection of open textbooks created to make post-secondary education more accessible by reducing student expenditures through the use of openly licensed textbooks and other educational resources. The curated collection aligns with the top 40 subject areas in BC, including art and design, business, sciences, education, engineering, humanities, language, law, mathematics, and social sciences. Many of these textbooks have been reviewed by faculty, fulfill specific accessibility standards, and/or include supplemental content like quizzes, test banks, slides, videos, and so on. These textbooks are available to view online, download, and print.

BASE, operated by Bielefeld University Library, is a registered Open Archives Initiatives (OAI) service provider and one of the most comprehensive search engines for academic digital resources in the world. It offers over 300 million papers from 9,000 content providers, all of which have been carefully selected and reviewed. Approximately 60% of the indexed documents have complete texts available to users for free. The BASE makes it easier to conduct tailored searches and find high-quality, academically relevant results as it searches the dark web as well. It provides two types of search surfaces to users, a basic search with a single search field and an advanced search with multiple search fields and more sophisticated search options. Users can also narrow their search by using several search fields in the advanced search such as author, DOI, URL, etc.
